Valgrisenche

Situated at an altitude of 1,664 metres between the Rhemes Valley, the Gran Paradiso and the Rutor massif, Valgrisenche is an enchanting and unspoilt place, where nature displays wonderful colour contrasts… A perfect place to have an authentic experience and enjoy traditional flavours, all far from the hustle and bustle and stress of the city.

At every turn, Valgrisenche offers breathtaking views: wild alps, waterfalls, lakes, wide pastures and sharp peaks. A valley framed by unspoilt forests, among which the ancient larch forest of Arolla is particularly beautiful. There is no shortage of culture in this beautiful place. You can admire the vestiges of a more or less recent past, such as the Beauregard dam, the church of San Grato,…

Valgrisenche winter

Winter in this beautiful valley allows for a variety of activities. For more experienced skiers, but also for children and beginners, there are ski lifts and downhill slopes with varying degrees of difficulty. On the other hand, for cross-country skiers, there are three loops on a 7.5 km course of an interesting technical level.

Not forgetting, for those who do not ski, the possibility of a nice snowshoe hike in the snow. In addition, the area is a popular destination for ski mountaineering connoisseurs, and has become an international benchmark for heliskiing with its 14 landing sites.

Valgrisenche summer

Valgrisenche is the perfect place for those seeking contact with unspoilt nature. Trekking enthusiasts will find numerous paths in this valley that allow medium and high-level hikes, as well as the possibility of reaching the neighbouring valleys along the Alte Vie. On the other hand, its rock gyms offer a variety of possibilities for free climbers (interesting are the artificial gym on the wall of the Beauregard dam and a scenic via ferrata of over a thousand metres in height difference).

For those who, instead of adventure, are looking for a bit of relaxation, Valgrisenche offers: the relaxing Plan Moulin picnic area, a walk to the waterfalls (of Surier and Miollet) or in search of the animals that inhabit the forests, as well as a hike to the nearest refuges, which can be reached in a couple of hours. Finally, for a unique experience, it is possible to go up to the alpine pastures to watch the milk being processed and visit the craft cooperative where the women devote themselves to the typical craft of this valley, namely the weaving of drap, a sheep’s wool cloth.
